Hammersmith & Fulham Foodbank
The primary objective of the Hammersmith & Fulham foodbank is the prevention or relief of poverty in and around the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham. In particular, but not exclusively by 1) the provision of of emergency food parcels to individuals in need and/or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty; 2) providing practical advice and support to individuals, either directly or by referral to approved partner agencies; thereby enabling them to find lasting relief from financial hardship.
As well as offering emergency food parcels, we also run children’s holiday clubs, a cookery and meal planning course – called ‘Eat Well Spend Less’, drop-in sessions for the community, based at our Hub in W12; and provide professional advice via two Citizen’s Advice workers, based in our Foodbank Centres. We serve homemade soup, served with bread and butter, every Monday and Friday to clients visiting the foodbank.

Food Cycle is a voluntary sector organization that supports people who are hungry and lonely by serving tasty lunches and dinners every single day in towns and cities across the country. Many of their guests struggle to afford the basics to eat and many will eat alone without company or conversation. Meals are prepared by volunteers, from reclaimed surplus food that would otherwise go to waste.

Age UK offer an escorted door-to-door shopping service for people over 50 who could not otherwise do their own shopping. Their fully accessible minibus will collect you, take you to a local supermarket – we currently use Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda depending upon which area you live in – and bring you back to your home. The round trip costs £2.50 and includes a helpful, fully trained driver who can also help with heavy bags, and usually a volunteer escort to provide additional support.
