  • Financial Support in Terminal Illness

If you have a terminal illness and age aged 16-64, you should be eligible to Personal Independence Payment (PIP). Your care team will need to complete a Form DS 1500, but once this is done your application should be fast-tracked so there is less form filling and faster access to payments:

If you are aged over 65 years and have a terminal illness, you should be eligible for Attendance Allowance. Your application will still be fast tracked, and you will still need a Form DS 1500, but there is less form filling and faster access to payment:

  • Macmillan Cancer Navigators

Navigators assist patients and their advocates, GPs or carers by answering questions, helping with appointment bookings and accessing local support services. They support patients across the full treatment pathway, including radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments. They can also provide emotional support and help to find support provided by other organisations, such as charities and a patient’s local authority.
They provide a single contact number, and aim to be an easy point of access to help patients and staff better navigate services.

Palliative care hospices

‘End of life’ or ‘palliative’ care refers to the care of people who are in the final stages of their life, and aims to allow them to live in as comfortable and dignified a way as possible until they die. It is about providing support that meets the needs of both the person who is dying and the people close to them. This care has a strong focus on managing symptoms to keep a person comfortable, helping them to adapt to the changes in their lives, and helping them to cope with the emotional impact of their illness.

  • Pembridge Hospice
